Update on “Elevator Speech”

06-09-2015 14:10:00
If you attended the mid-winter meeting this past February, you participated in an exercise in developing what is called an “elevator speech.”  The name "elevator Speech" is the idea that it should be possible to deliver what the Eastern Star is all about in the time it takes to take an elevator ride, which is approximately thirty seconds to two minutes. The term itself comes from meeting someone in the elevator. If the conversation inside the elevator in those few seconds is interesting, the conversation will continue after the elevator ride or end in exchange of contact information or a scheduled meeting.
We wanted to develop a speech that would be easy to remember and give more than our usual response such as: We are the largest fraternal organization in the world for both men and women. Or we perform charitable work. Or we are a social organization.  Below is our “elevator speech.”
The Order of the Eastern Star is an international fraternal organization which is comprised of both men and women and is part of the family of Freemasonry.
We are dedicated to charity, truth and loving-kindness through fraternal, social and other activities which support local and national charities, scholarship programs and homes for seniors.
My sisters and brothers are people who respect family values, honesty in business and life, community service and each other.

We have strong religious convictions, however, our Order is not a religion, but a way of life.  Interested in joining?   CALL ME.
