June 24, 2020
Dear Sisters and Brothers
While the "Stay Home, Stay Safe" is in the process of being lifted and groups up to 75 will soon be allowed, out of a great deal of love and concern for our membership, in consultation with Jurisprudence Committee, Associate Grand Matron, Associate Grand Patron and Grand Secretary, we have decided to postpone the Proud to Be Session until June 2021. This is the first time in our history that we have had to do this.
Per our Most Worthy Grand Matron Marianne R. Shenefelt:
“Those who are in the high-risk group should not attend meetings until it is considered safe by health experts to do so. Those at high-risk for severe illness from COVID-19 are: people aged 65 years and older; people who live in a nursing home or long-term care facility; people of all ages with underlying medical conditions, particularly if not well controlled including chronic lung disease or moderate to severe asthma; serious heart conditions; diabetes; chronic kidney disease undergoing dialysis; liver disease; and people who are immunocompromised which includes cancer treatment, smoking, bone marrow or organ transplantation, immune deficiencies, poorly controlled HIV or AIDS, and prolonged use of corticosteroids and other immune weakening medications (source:”
As a majority of our members meet this criterion, we believe this is the best for the welfare of our members.
The Grand Chapter of Vermont will stay in repose until June 2021. The Worthy Grand Matron, Worthy Grand Patron, and all Grand Officers elected and appointed, will stay in the respective positions. As our Chapters were unable to hold installation of officers, all subordinate officers shall stay in their positions that they are currently hold until 2021.
All checks that have been received for meals and/or pre-registration will be returned by the Grand Secretary. If you have made hotel reservations, the Essex will automatically cancel your reservation for you and will refund your deposit. No action is required by you.
The Proud to Be June 2021 session will be held at The Essex. Further details will be provided in February 2021.
Should an urgent matter arise during this period, please contact either myself or Sister Jerri K. Riegler, Past Grand Matron, Grand Secretary via phone or e-mail.
Please be attentive to our elderly members and check in on them frequently as they are the group that will be the hardest hit. When there is a change in our status, we will notify the membership accordingly. Please stay safe and healthy! We look forward to seeing you soon!
Proud To Be,

Jacqueline (Jacque) M. Shiner
